I started my day with following 150 tweeters from different "follow back" lists (see my previous post about "follow back" lists). 119 FOLLOWED ME BACK WITHIN 24 HOURS!!! (see updated list http://tr.im/KXRW). Thanks to all of you!
It is 80%. My previous experiments with "follow back" lists were 3 days ago (47 followed back out of 100 - 47% follow back rate (within 24 hours) and 10 days ago (95 out of 150 - 63% follow back rate (within 24 hours)).
Do you see the difference?
Let's first mention what was common to those 3 days:
1. I tweeted during those days
2. 95% of the chosen tweeters were from US.
How exactly did I chose tweeters to follow?
10 days ago: I followed everyone from the lists that tweeted within previous 24 hours.
3 days ago: I followed everyone from the lists.
Today: I followed everyone from the lists that tweeted within previous 24 hours.
What else was common 10 days ago and 3 days ago? It was Sunday. And today is Wednesday.
So, if you want to increase your chances to be followed by tweeters from "follow back" lists:
- ACTIVELY TWEET BEFORE ADDING NEW FOLLOWERS
- CHOSE ACTIVE TWEETERS (with last tweet less than 24 hours ago)
- FOLLOW THEM ON WEEKDAYS
The other interesting question: Are tweeters on the "follow back" lists interested in you?
And unfortunately the answer is TOTALLY NOT! The only thing that stands behind those lists is "I FOLLOW YOU - YOU FOLLOW ME".
The average Click Through Rate (CTR) of link to my blog on my twitter page (calculated as an average of daily number of clicks on the link divided by number of daily new follows) is around 8%.
Let's see what happened on the days of the experiments with "follow back" lists (Jan 7, Jan 17 and Jan 20):

Unbelievable, but...
Jan 7 - 0 clicks
Jan 17 - 0 clicks
Jan 20 - 3 clicks with Click Through Rate 1.9%
P.S. Do you know what happened on Jan 9 (do you see that there were o clicks on link to my blog?) - I TWEETED ONLY ONCE :)
